The rose is one of the most cultivated plant in the world, and is first in the cut flowers market. Its implantation in the Middle East dates from 4000 B.C. Alexander the Great imported the rose in Egypt where it gradually replaced the lotus. The first roses introduced in Europe were more used for their pefume than for a decorative purpose. Rose has become a token of love, a symbol of beauty and purity.
